Andrea Mitchell
Andrea Mitchell, an American journalist and commentator, who works for NBC News in Washington D.C. She is also a television anchor. She earned an undergraduate degree in English literature from the University of Pennsylvania after growing to be a part of New York City. Mitchell began her career in the field of radio and television reporter for Philadelphia, KYW Radio and TV. In 1976 she joined the CBS affiliate WDVM-TV. (then WTOP in Washington DC). After two years, she joined NBC News as a Washington reporter. Beginning in 1981, she began reporting on the White House and became chief congressional correspondent in 1988. She was made the chief White House correspondent in 1992. As well as the the chief correspondent for foreign affairs at NBC News. Mitchell was host and an expert panelist on the TV program Meet the Press. Mitchell was a panelist in the 1988 presidential debates between George Bush and Michael Dukakis. Mitchell married Alan Greenspan the former chairman of Federal Reserve Board. Mitchell was awarded the Goldsmith Career Award in 2005 by the John F. Kennedy School of Government to recognize her excellence in the field of journalism. In 2004 The Radio-Television News Directors Association gave Mitchell the Leonard Zeidenberg Award to recognize of her contributions to protecting First Amendment Freedoms. Mitchell's first White House coverage was for NBC News, between 1981-1988. This period included both Ronald Reagan terms in office. Mitchell covered a wide range of important stories including the Iran Contra scandal, budget tax reforms as well as arms control. She traveled with President Ronald Reagan several times to attend summits and discuss topics such as the Iran Contra controversy.
